Afterglow is the second single from the album. The lyrics reflect a person's respect for death and need to move on from the sorrow of loss. The song is a tribute to Michael Hutchence, the late ex-lead singer of the band. The song consists of synth, strings, airy guitar and new lead singer J.D. Fortune. The song peaked at #24 in Australia. Afterglow was INXS's highest single debut on the American charts. The video for the single features actress Estella Warren and J. D. Fortune in a loft in downtown Los Angeles. JD Fortune walks alone on the empty Sixth Street Viaduct and is later joined by the rest of the band of INXS.
