Walking Away reached number one in New Zealand and became the number one song of 2001, according to the RIANZ Singles Chart, combining both sales and airplay. Craig David talks about walking away from his girlfriend who has no trust in him, it may also be interpreted as a person who has heavy discontent with his environment and feels out of place and is moving away. Craig released a UK version and a US version of Walking Away. Both music videos did considerably well. Walking Away hit the top 40s in the US and the top 20s in the UK.
